Air-dropped weapon consignment recovered at J&K’s Akhnoor: Police | KNO

Jammu, Sep 22 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Special Forces Tuesday recovered consignment of arms and ammunition in Akhnoor area of Jammu which was possibly dropped by the drone that was controlled from across. A police spokesman said that on receipt of credible information a joint search operation was launched, all the subordinate units/Naka were alert to derail the nefarious designs anti national elements. “The search operation started at various places in Jammu including Sohal Khad, Shamshan Ghat, Punnu Chowk, Sohal Market etc of Akhnoor,” the statement issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). It said that during search operation consignment of arms and ammunition was recovered from Sohal Khad, at about 12:50 pm in the intervening night of 21/22 September. “While recovering the consignment a drone sound was heard but due to dark the same was not visible from the said place. Continuous search led to recovery of another consignment of arms and ammunition,” the statement said. The recovered Arms and ammunition were dropped to carry out terrorist activities in J&K UT. Accordingly FIR NO. 156/2020 U/S 121, 121-A, 123, 120-B, IPC, 13/21 ULA(P) Act, 7/27 Indian Arms Act was registered with P/S Akhnoor and investigation thereof started. The details of the Arms and ammunitions recovered as under: AK-47 Assault Rifles, 3 AK Magazines, 90 Rounds of 7.62 MM Ammunition, 1 Star Pistol, 2 Pistol Magazines,. 14 Rounds of 9 MM Ammunition ( Star Pistol), Packaging stuff containing blue Thermacol wrapped in adhesive tape with wooden attached fittings (fittings 2 Pkts, Synthetic /parachute thread 2 rolls about 300 mts in length each—(KNO)
